Residents of Kamae Road in Kahawa West are an angry lot after staying in darkness for over 48 hours due to power outage.

Hundreds of businessmen and women along the ever-busy road have been at crossroads as Kenya Power staff drag their feet to solve the issue.

According to some area residents who sought anonymity, Kenya Power staff arrived at the scene on Tuesday, April 16, but could not fix a faulty transformer in the area because no one was willing to offer bribes.

“I personally called Kenya Power and they sent their staff. But, they did nothing when they got here, even after assessing the situation. It is something they could have sorted there and then but they could not because we could not bribe them.” A Kamae resident told KOM.co.ke.

The residents insisted that businesses have stalled with perishable products in their fridges going stale due to Kenya Power’s incompetence.

Some disclosed that they reported the matter to Kenya Power through phone calls and social media but their cries were met with rudeness.
