Netizens Attack Oga Obinna Online For Buying Dem Wa Facebook iPhone 13 Pro Max
Comedian Oga Obinna has stirred controversy after surprising his mentee Dem Wa Facebook with a brand new iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The former Kiss 100 radio host disclosed to the world that he had decided to get the lass an iPhone so that she can shoot quality content.
Speaking on The Weekly Show, the comic revealed that he thought it wise to get the young entertainer a good phone so that she can maintain consistency in content production.
According to Obinna, it was not a solo effort as he had earlier taken to TikTok and pleaded with Kenyans to contribute money so that they can give the comedienne an awesome treat.
“Tumekuwa for the last one-week tukichangachanga and for now we have KSh 77,000 which we are trying to get Dem Wa Facebook a better phone so that asichome akishoot video inakaa funny kama mtu ako kwa mawingu. Though we had a live session tukatukanwa, other people walichanga and we are grateful.” He said.
While many netizens lauded him for being a considerate mentor, a section took to trolling him for disturbing Kenyans with unnecessary plea for financial contributions.
Many who criticised his move insisted that he should have spent his own money to buy Dem Wa Facebook an iPhone since he is well off.
In a quick rejoinder, the father of three noted that he could not buy the phone for his mentee alone because she has been and will continue entertaining many Kenyans online and not just him.
“It hit me at first when going live because Dem Wa Facebook entertains you guys. Ni mtu wenu guys. Anawa-entertain, anawabamba then I was like, yes, I can decide and get her a phone, but I wanted you guys we come together as a family and appreciate her for the content she does by getting her a phone.” the comic added.
He went on to add that he will now focus on changing Dem Wa Facebook’s wardrobe so that she can look appealing in content she will be sharing online.
Obinna’s generous gesture towards the fast-rising content creator comes just days after he was accused of getting so intimate with her.
This was triggered by a TikTok LIVE session they did together at around 2.00am at Obinna’s place.
Many netizens claimed the two had started crossing boundaries as colleagues and were likely breeding romance between them with their recent moves.
Obinna went ahead and added that after the phone, he would focus on the dress code and other accessories to ensure the rising comedian looks appealing and presentable when shooting her YouTube content.
