Zuchu’s Social Media Move Sparks Speculation Amid Ramadan Observance

Tanzanian songstress Zuchu has caused a stir in the virtual realm by wiping clean all her social media posts. Visitors to her Instagram page are greeted with the stark message ‘No Posts Yet,’ while a peek into her archives reveals a stash of 26 hidden posts.

In the realm of Instagram, archiving posts is a strategic maneuver often employed to temporarily remove content while keeping the option to reinstate them at a later date.

Reports suggest that Zuchu’s decision might be intertwined with her observance of the holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan commenced on the evening of Monday, March 11, 2024, and is expected to culminate on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is revered as a time of fasting and spiritual reflection, commencing with the sighting of the crescent moon.

Amidst this digital cleansing, Zuchu found herself embroiled in controversy following her performance at Kendwa Rocks in Zanzibar. The National Arts Council of Tanzania, Basata, imposed a ban on her subsequent performances in the region due to alleged use of abusive language during the show.

In response, Zuchu tendered an apology to Tanzanians, acknowledging any offense caused during the event: “Kutokana na sintofahamu iliyojitokeza kwenye show yangu ya Zanzibar, niombe radhi kwa jamii kama kuna sintofahamu yoyote iliyojitokeza na kama kuna mtu yoyote ilimkera.”

Translated, she expressed regret for any ‘insult’ during the Zanzibar show, extending apologies to anyone who may have been offended by her remarks.
